“Vaanavill Music” is an established band that had been performing live musical shows for the past 20 years in the country as well as overseas such as in Chennai, India and Medan, Indonesia.

Vaanavill Music is consisted of 5 permanent members namely, M.G. Ragu (Lead Keyboardist), Mr. Kalaiarasan (Drummer), Mr. Raymond (Guitarist as well as Male Vocalist), Mr. Vinod (Tablist) & Ms. Sicilina J Das (Female Vocalist, RTM Recording Artist).

We also have on call members such as Mr. Charles Ambrose, Mr. Giri (Keyboardists), Mr. Maniam, Mr. Sam (Lead & Bass Guitarists) , Mr. Kesavan (Flutist), Mr. Bala (Sexaphonist), Mr. Kalai (Sitarist), Mr. Nathakumar (Percussionist), Mr. TMS Ragu & Mr. TMS Citran (Male Vocalist, RTM Recording & Album Artists), Ms. K.V. Prasnna, Ms. Kalaivani (Female Vocalist, RTM & Astro Recording Artists) who had been performing with us in many shows that require more instrumentalist as we do perform 10-15 piece band and we must say that our strength lies in the hands of our much experienced and dedicated members.

Under the leadership of Mr. M.G. Ragu (Qualified Sound Engineer), and a much talented and well known keyboardist, who is also the founder of “Vaanavill Productions & Music”, the band had performed in many major shows in the country such as Pesta Shah Alam, Selangor, Deepavali Carnival, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Deepavali Carnival Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan and etc.

“Vaanavill Music“ is also the band which had performed the most at National Matshushita & Panasonic’s “Deepavali/Cultural Nite” shows. We had also performed for Radio Malaysia’s tamil programme such as “Kalapadam and Ivvara Isaikulu” under the direction of Mr. Gunasegaran.

“Vaanavill Music” had also organised many charity show on its own, such as shows to raise funds for kidney failure patients, Special Children’s Home and etc.As our clients come from both corporate and the public, we had strived to provide a variety of entertainment meet their demands and always give our best to it.

We are also proud to say that our professional and quality services in the entertainment field have earned us many long term business relationship with most of our clients.

In order to keep our performing standards at the highest, we maintain regular rehearsals as our motive had always been to produce well organized and professional musical shows to enhance the awareness among our clients and society of our very unique culture.

The Big Band, formed in December of 1998, is currently one of the hottest bands in town. Having played in countless various clubs around Malaysia they have built a name and formidable reputation for being a versatile and entertaining band.

Having been around for about 11 years they have established an avid following be it in Kuala Lumpur or even as far as East Malaysia.

The Big Band not only has the experience required to produce and deliver a complete night of entertainment, they can do it with the best of them. That’s why various local Artistes have constantly requested their services as a back-up band.

Having won 3rd Place in the inaugural ‘Rentak Juara Band Competition’ organized by R.T.M in 2004, and also placing as one of the 3 finalists in the inaugural ‘Rock Unite’ band competition 2006, they have further cemented their place as one of the best in the Malaysian music scene.

The Big Band is currently experimenting with the pub scene and is going with just 5 members. Playing mostly classic to contemporary rock numbers they have gained rave reviews and are gaining a new following in the local K.L Pub scene.

With years of performance experiences under her belt, Ywenna is no stranger to local music scene. As a pianist, Ywenna displays a gutsy versatility in any genre. She’s been in few bands including “Rhapsody” – RnB, jazzy original material band, “TokyoBlue” – instrumental Jazz band and actively performing at various venues such as, Bangkok Jazz, Groove Junction, The Attic – bangsar, No Black Tie, Laundry, La Bodega, The Apartment, private launches, weddings, hotels (Impiana Hotel, Istana Hotel, Sheraton Hotel), playing jazz standards, RnB, funk, soul and top 40s.

She also plays for Digi Starbucks Music Series 2004, ‘Penang island jazz festival’ fringe stage ‘06, ‘Genting international jazz festival’ preview ’08, RTM Unplugged Konser Prihatin Palestin 2009, Hunny Madu EP launch at No Black Tie 2009.

Began formal music lessons at age five for piano. Studied under a number of renowned teachers including music maestro, the late Lawrence Gomez. By age seven, he was performing for family gatherings, weddings and church. Graduated from Hammond Academy of Music at age twenty as piano and organ instructor. Eddie formed his first band ‘The Guys’ in 1983. During this time, he began picking up various musical instruments namely the guitar, bass, drums, ukulele and vibraphone amongst others to improve his general musicianship.

The next two years saw him venturing alone as a solo pianist at various hotel lobby lounges around Peninsular Malaysia. He then formed four-piece outfit, “Andromeda” which performed at local clubs and was soon discovered by the Jazz Fusion group “Sketsa”, which consisted of music greats Razak Rahman, Johari Teh, Wan Carefree and Daniel Soliano Guerzo and was invited to play piano and keyboards for them. After a two years stint with Sketsa, Eddie joined Singapore based show-band “Fredo & The Flinstones” who earned rave reviews wherever they performed.

In 1990, after much traveling in and around the South East Asean region, he based himself in Kuala Lumpur and joined “The Pieces”, resident band of The Royal Selangor Club. Eddie assumed leadership of the band two years later and continued performing there for a total of six years before taking “The Pieces” to the Royal Lake Club for a one-year stint. During this time he had the opportunity to perform for a wide array of VVIP’s, VIP’s, heads of state, and local /foreign dignitaries, amongst others. It was also around this time that Eddie was introduced to Johari Salleh, the then Music Director and Conductor of the RTM Orchestra, and was given his first opportunity at doing studio sessions and worked on various projects under the valuable guidance of Johari.

At Booty Studios, he was assigned to manage the day-to-day operations, overseeing studio recordings and the administration department, which comprised one chief engineer, four assistant engineers and seven administration staff. Here, he had the opportunity to work with and alongside some of the best musicians, singers, engineers, producers and arrangers of this generation, amongst them, Sheila Majid, Zainal Abidin, Search, Sandii Suzuki, Randy Bernsen, Steve Thornton, Roslan Aziz and Guy Gray to name a few.

The band consists of 4 members and has performed together for 3 years in various well known venues. Also, individually they have performed in a small 4-piece band to a large orchestra ensemble. The last venue that they performed was at “Tiff’s Jazz Lounge” at Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang. The vast experiences of each band member has contributed to making the band a professional, fun and well diversified band to watch and listen to. The unique talents and specialty of each band member can be seen and heard through their virtuosic performance on-stage. This group consists of four music lovers who love performing and sharing music to anyone who is willing to open their hearts to accept different genres of music. They have performed as a group in No Black Tie November last year and difference places around KL. Due to the overwhelming responses, they have decided to make another appearance in Ipoh.

Ong Ket Wei on the double-bass, is leaving for Italy this coming June to learn the art of violin making. His initial major instrument was playing the guitar. However, he switched to double-bass at the age of 23. Having able to pick up the instrument at a blink of eye, he quickly rose to the top as one of the most sought after double bassist in the music scene, performing in various classical ensemble, jazz, pop, rock and fusion band, and some orchestras including National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO), Professional Cultural Centre Orchestra (PCCO) and Penang State Symphony Orchestra (PESSO) .He is also a repair technique assistant in EP STUDIOS and Sixteenth Place Enterprise specializing in String instrument.

Kong Su Mei is a fresh graduate from University UCSI who was awarded a scholarship to further her studies in Birmingham Conservatoire, United Kingdom to pursue her Master in Classical Piano Performance. She has also emerged as a prize winner in several piano competitions; these include 1st prize in Piano Competition organized by University of Wolverhampton (UK), 2nd prize in Classical Solo Performance competition in the Malaysian Youth Music Festival, and 1st prize in Roland 1st Piano Competition for both Jazz Solo and Classical Duet category. Besides, she was also selected as the pianist of Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO).

Foo Chie Haur obtained his Bachelor Degree in Science from TAR College. However, he is now pursuing his career as a flutist after he was selected and received scholarship in 2003 to study in England under Mr. Trevor Wye, a renowned flutist. Besides, he also has the privilege to study under Yukako Yamamoto and Hristo Dobrinov from MPO. He was selected to participate in several international music camps and orchestra such as WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in Singapore, Canton International Summer Music Academy in Guangzhou, China, and Asian Youth Orchestra 2007 and 2008 in Hong Kong. Locally, his performing experiences include PJ Youth Symphonic Band, National Symphony Orchestra, Dama Orchestra and MPYO.

Tan Su Yin (Drum) started her music education at the young age of 4. She completed her Trinity LTCL in Piano with a distinction in year 2006. Tracing back to her high school days, she joined SMJK Nan Hwa School Band and that was when she found her passion in playing percussion. She was selected as a percussionist to perform with MPYO under the baton of Mr. Kevin Field and High Winds Ensemble under the baton of Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra’s oboist, Mr. Joost Flach. In 2007, she was also selected to perform with Southeast Asia Youth Orchestra (SAYOWE). She is currently a student of Mr. Paul Philbert, the principal timpanist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Malik (flute and tabla) and Rishi (tabla and percussion) are currently the resident duo at the acclaimed G Hotel in Penang. Malik studied music in India under Ustad Niya Quat Khan and Pandit Delhi Babu, and since moving to Malaysia 16 years ago has carved himself a hugely successful career.

As Tabla Cadabra Duo, he and Rishi have performed at the World Trade Center in Brunei (in a private concert for the Sultan of Brunei), at the Rhythm of Asia music festival, at the opening ceremony of Kuala Lumpur Central Station and at the jazz festival in Havanti.
