Brazilian percussionist & singer Valtinho Anastacio returns to NBT for a rare two nights of bossa nova hits. The sessionist and accompanist extraordinaire who creates rhythmic poetry with the congas, the pandeiro, the berimbau, the agogos, the abes, the caixas and more has played with some of the world’s top musicians including Kazumi Watanabe, Jaco Pastorious, Omar Hakim, Bill Cosby, Astrud Gilberto, Eddie Van Halen and the Grammy-winning McCoy Tyner. Catch his exuberant set with musicians Willy Rebano (piano), Christophe Turchi (sax), Xiong (gtr/v), Alwin (perc) & Badar (perc).

Rollin Sixers, Pete Teo, Doc Holiday & Apache Train. Actor, singer-songwriter, ‘Here in My Home’ producer Pete Teo will play an acoustic set with two imminent rock bands in a gig that, forgive the food pun, is much like an Oreo cookie — a smooth middle (set) sandwiched by rock hard richness. The show opens with 70′s inspired Malaysian blues band Rollin Sixers, followed by Teo and Doc Holiday & Apache Train; a blues/rock/pop/soul band with a huge following in their native Japan. NBT offers a unique opportunity for all budding and established percussionists to come and soak up the knowledge and wisdom of a true beat maestro. Born in Brazil, Valtinho learnt to master the congas, the pandeiro, the berimbau, the agogos, the abes, the caixas and more. He went on to play and learn from some of Brasil’s top musicians before travelling to Tokyo to work with Japanese legends such as the luminous Ryuichi Sakamoto. His next stop, New York City, helped hone his craft and gigs with diverse musicians like Victor Bailey, Omar Hakim, Bill Cosby, Astrud Gilberto, Eddie Van Halen and the Grammy-winning McCoy Tyner gave this Brasillian musician all the breaks he would ever need. Poova

Malaysian born singer, songwriter and musician, Poova as she is known, has been singing and composing songs since she was a child, when she would sing and play her own piano compositions for friends and family. Her love of music has continued throughout her life and took her through several genres where she has been wowing audiences with her amazing vocals.

Mellow Motif

Mellow Motif is a collaboration between Natasha (vox), Eugene (piano), and friends. A band whose repertoire includes Jazz standards repertoire and selected Brazilian music, Mellow Motif has recently launched their album in Thailand in February 2009 under Warner Music and are currently in the process of producing their second album to be released in January 2010.
